The theme of our second LAQF event was Financial Resilience and Sustainability. The event explored:
- the nature and scale of the sustainability challenges facing local bodies;
- the strategies and disciplines which can help to address them successfully; and
- the roles and responsibilities of Chief Finance Officers and Auditors in helping to maintain resilience and sustainability.
The programme included:
- Sarah Howard, President of CIPFA on what needs to change to enable higher levels of assurance in relation to financial resilience and sustainability
- David Aldous, Director, National Audit Office on reviewing the Code of Audit Practice
- Janet Dawson, EY Government and Public Sector Assurance Leader on what do auditors look for and what are their options for highlighting increasing risk to financial resilience and sustainability
- Jayne Owen, Director of Finance (Police and Crime), Greater Manchester CA on how financial resilience challenges are growing and how they are being addressed
- Leigh Whitehouse, Executive Director of Finance, Surrey CC on how financial resilience challenges are growing and how they are being addressed
